A Couple of Words About Turabian Formatting. Turabian is also known as Chicago style. It was invented in a distant 1906 as a set of rules for academic papers produced by professors, researchers, and learners. The rules served to standardize the research methodology and citation in particular. The very first edition included 203 pages.

If you cite a part of the book with a generic title, such as introduction or foreword, include it (followed by the word to) before the title of the book, in roman type without quotation marks. If the author of the part is different from the main author of the book, cite the author of the part first, and cite the main author's name (preceded by the word by ) after the book title.
DEFINITION: The Turabian format was created by Kate Turabian, the dissertation secretary at the University of Chicago specifically for student who did not require a strict scholarly style for their essays and papers. It is based on the Chicago Style of writing and is mainly for writing history papers, but it is sometimes used in other disciplines.
