INTRODUCTION This report describes the Hyper-Threading Technology architecture, and discusses the microarchitecture details of Intel's first implementation on the Intel Xeon processor family. For that reason, firstly, general processor microarchitecture and thread level parallelism will be explained. After that, hyper-threading technology architecture will be discussed in a detailed manner.
The introduction of the new Pentium 4 at 3.06GHz is not only a milestone in processor clockspeed, but also marks the introduction of Hyper-Threading on the desktop. Whereas the 266MHz increase in clockspeed over the previous top-of-the-line Pentium 4 enables the 3.06GHz to take the performance crown, Hyper-Threading is what makes all the difference here, especially in a multitasking environment.

Multiprocessor systems are systems in which there are multiple physical processors present on the computer system (Schauer, 2008). Multi-core processors, on the other hand refer to the presence of more than one virtual core on only one physical processor.

Turbo Boost technology ensures increased overall performance and handling aspect as the number of active cores, power consumption, processor temperature, etc. Core i3 also has this feature, except Turbo Boost technology. Core i5 has a cache memory is lower than the i7.
Hyper-Threading According to Parkinson, D., only a single thread can be served with one core at any given time. Therefore, if a CPU is a dual core, it follows that only two threads can be served at the same time. However, with the introduction of Hyper-Threading technology by Intel, it is now possible to serve several threads at the same time.
The paper describes a new approach to the use of the Hyper-Threading Technology for improving cluster performance. The Hyper-Threading Technology is enabled in 90% of all sold server's CPUs today.
